Here is a nice BIG 5,307g Campo del Cielo meteorite from Argentina (Group IAB coarse Octahedrite). This was too massive to weigh on my scale so post office weighed for me and said it was 11 pounds 11.2 ounces which I converted to 5,307g. May be off by a gram or two but this a REALLY nice and stable example of a meteorite that can be stable or can be prone to rusting apart very quickly. Some Campos in my collection rusted away in under a year but I think these were some very old (25 years+) samples that were from what was below sea level at one time in history.
This iron rock has been on my desk for about 15 years and I never did anything to it. This was found at a high elevation site that was water free, thus the stability. This can be cleaned if you want and if you rub some Renaissance wax (used by the Museum of London for their armor and iron meteorites) it will look as nice as the new ones listed but you will know this is a stable example!I personally love the look of this as it is much more but that is just a matter of choice. This is a beautiful example of Campo.
It is large, massive and highly regmaglypted just as we like! I'm recently retired and family health problems make ittime for me to downsize.
