Cut from fragment of Campo Del Cielo meteorite with strong Widmanstaten crystalization pattern. 299 grams 42mm diameter, etched and unpolished. The Campo Del Cielo meteorite hit earth about 4,500 years ago at a very slight angle (like landing a plane) and splashed fragments over a large area of northern Argentina. The tribal Indians in the area had long known of iron that had fallen from the sky and this was noted by Spanish explorers in 1576. Before it fragmented entering the earths atmosphere, the meteorite is estimated to have have been several hundred tons. Its composition is mainly 7% nickel and 93% Iron.
